Good Morning,
What a great morning here in KY, we have temps in the
upper 50’s to low 60’s, which makes it feel like spring. A little early I know,
but we will take what we can get.
We had a good day at church yesterday. I was able to get out and preach for the
first time in a few weeks and it was great to be able to do so. I have to admit
that I was extremely tired when church was over and I was really done for the
day. We did end the service on a very high note as David & Tonya Tipton and
Contessa Harris, their daughter, came forward to move their membership. It’s
always great to have people who have a desire to become a part of our
congregation and too join us in our work for the Lord in this place.
Last night a group of our people met together to talk and share ideas about our
youth program. Since our youth minister, Jonah, is no longer with us we have to
take a long hard look at what we want to accomplish in the youth area and how
best to do that. So we asked our young adult to come and share their ideas. They
talked about everything from whether to stay with a full time youth minister or
possibly look at some form of part time position. They talked about how to make
the best use of our existing space for our youth and even adding more space.
They talked about the need for teachers and classes for the youth and for their
parents. A lot of great ideas were discussed and we will probably have another
meeting in the next few weeks to talk about all this a little more, after
everyone has had a chance to digest it all a little better.
We also unveiled our theme for 2008 in our morning worship service. The overall
theme for the church, for the next few years is: Family First! Our specific
theme for 2008 will be: Building Family! Yes, here at UCCC we are going to work
at putting our Family First. Now, don’t get ahead of me. This will have to do
with the fact that we are a part of God’s Family, that God is our Father! It
also has to do with the fact that we are a part of the Church Family. And it
will have to do with the fact that we have a Personal Family. You might notice
that all of this really has everything to do with relationships. Our
relationship with God, our brothers & sisters in Christ, and our personal
family. Family is important to all of us, in fact, we need to make sure that
Family, our relationships, are really of First importance in our life. Which
brings us to our actual theme for 2008, which is again, Building Family! We need
to learn, to the best of our ability, how to make our Family the best it can be,
now to make our relationships the very best they can be. This year we will be
seeking to help each one of us grow and develop in our relationship with God,
the church and our personal family. So come on out and grow with us.
Well I better end this and get something else done. Talk with you on Wednesday,
remember I have a doctor’s appointment in the morning. They will be evaluating
my test results and deciding what the next step is going to be.
Have a
Great Day in the Lord,
Rod
