Good Morning,
Burrr!!! It’s a little cool here this morning with a temp of about 30 or so. That really isn’t that bad, except that the high today is only going to be about 36. Better grab your coat on your way out this morning.
Our morning worship service yesterday, went very well. As most of you know, with my cancer back again I am limited in what I can do. My stamina is very limited, so I get tired quickly. So, at least for the time being I will only be preaching on Sunday morning. And until we can get some things figured out, there will be no Sunday evening service or Wednesday evening Bible study. In the mean time we are working to get things figured out so that we can get things back up and running again.
I did go back to the doctors on Friday. I was at the Neurosurgeons office at UK at 7:30 a.m. to get forms filled out and see the doctor. He said there are problems with my back but he didn’t recommend surgery at the moment. He did want me to see my old Oncologist right away however. So, we went across the street to see Dr. DeSimone. He seemed to have no doubt that the cancer was back. In the exams they felt a large lymph node in my upper chest and decided to do a nettle biopsy. I had never had one of those before, you know they don’t give you anything to deal with the pain, they just stick in a big nettle, twice! Anyway, the test came back positive. Now, whether or not it’s in my back, we don’t know for sure, but the odds are that it is. We were supposed to go this morning and have a PET scan done to find out more about where the cancer is an how bad. But, the insurance company said no, they wouldn’t pay for it. So, instead we are going to do a CT scan on Wednesday, so some reason they will pay for that. Following the CT I will go back to the Oncologist on Friday to see where we go from here. Oh, they did send me on to the Radiologist before we left on Friday. It seems that most likely my treatment will include both radiation and chemo again. I thought I had reached my limit on radiation, but it seem that as long as they are not hitting the same area again, they can still use it on me.
Mom and Dad where here over the weekend, it was good to see them and I know they are worried sick. Christy and Jacob are going to stay during the week with me, so I won’t be alone. I do get a little wobbly and I am not driving at the moment as I found that It’s not safe for me to be behind the wheel at the moment. Christy is now my designated driver. Adam and Melissa also sent a lot of time with us this weekend, it’s great having all the support. And of course the people of the church are great, including the Elders who are working with me in every possible way. What do people do when they don’t have Jesus and His Church?
Speaking of the church, a couple three of the ladies are going to be helping in the office. Since I won’t be able to be in the office as much, and maybe not at all at times, they are going to pitch in an help out. They will answer the phone, work on the bulletin, take care of e-mail, work with the music, work with the webpage, etc. Oh, and just because my car is not here at the church, doesn’t mean that I am not here. As I said I am not driving, so like this morning, Pat dropped me off as she went to work.
Well, there is a lot more to say, but I will end this for now. Talk with you later.
Have a Great Day in the Lord,
Rod
